    Cam choice for a 2010 LS3

Hi all.. really starting to think about a cam upgrade on my 2010 1 SS.. Have been eyeing up the Night Fury by Lethal Racing.. Any thoughts before going this route let me know. Here is a vid on one I found.. love the sound.

Dude you got specs on that cam. I found some but not sure if the same thing. .629 lift and 232/242 duration @50 with a 113 centerline.
Its hard to get old school rough idle. The LS motor with the EFI really takes alot of that away. I will say the Nova cam was .100 smaller and less centerline. Duration was about the same. I would have to say that Nigh Fury cam would be a higher RPM cam like redline close to 7000 give or take. I can go on about how it works but let me know if those are the specs and I will look at others and let ya know. Another thing the LS has 1.7 rockers whereas the Nova only 1.5. Ok I am rambling here.

The lump idle was due part to slight and full misfires. Fuel distribution at idle is tough for a carb. So that lumpity lump ilde was the result. EFI cures most of that. Now I think I read somewhere where you can have the PCM programed to enahnce that old school idle sound without harm to cats, or a check engine light.

What I have found is that is one of the larger or largest cams made for that motor. Here is what I found on the factory installed LS3 cam. 204/211 .551/.525 117 It these are the correct specs you are going up about 30 degrees duration and 80 to 100 on lift and tightening up centerline. That makes it a very agresive cam. This leads me to two things, Compression I would say you need at least 10 or more and I am sure that a valve spring change would need to happen. I will say that looking at other cams out there it seems that most are all about the same profile. Now it just comes down to price shopping. That will wake that thing up. A FAST intake, bigger throttle body, and what the heck a set of CNC ported heads, and it should be Nova like. LOL

Hmm.. the heads would hold me back from the package mainly from cost.. just not in the budget so it's either in steps or nothing unfortunately..

Comp Cams says spring change in needed. I think the LS3 heads flow well better than the ported Bowties I had. I have not built a LS like i did the Small and Big Blocks. I personaly think that cam is a good choice. So stages it is. Sorry dont have a set of heads laying around anymore. Do have a set of Shovelhead JE pistons so I can get ya going there.
